About Gina Rae
Early in my working life as a lumberjack in the Black Hills of South Dakota I developed the muscles of a female Hercules, an appreciation for hard work and critical negotiation skills. Now, as the founder of ACCORD Mediation Services, I have been a professional negotiator for over eighteen years for a variety of industries, from hi-tech to health care. During that time, I have mediated over 1,500 workplace disputes.

What I have learned from the front lines
Negotiation skills are critical for people working together at their best and for organizations to accomplish their goals. The days of having technical expertise as being sufficient in getting our jobs done are over. Now the age of interfacing with others is a key competence factor.
Successful negotiations start by having a plan, creating a sound strategy, developing critical timing skills for persuasion, as well as knowing how to create areas of agreement when there seem to be none. These skills need to be learned to provide the map for doing well, time after time.

How we work
Most negotiation learning formats get bogged down with abstract theory and jargon. This approach does not prepare people to know how to put the concepts into action. Also, the art of managing differences is either left out entirely or is treated as a marginal issue. In order to negotiate successfully, we need to know how to manage conflict as well.
Using the knowledge and experience I have gained from helping organizations overcome divisions within their own ranks, I have developed innovative negotiation training programs that combine negotiation and conflict management for the complete tool box of skills necessary for tackling challenges which each unique organization faces.
Skill-building themes include self-management, individual responsibility, genuine leadership, personal as well as professional development, and personal power.
